I want you to read The Odyssey by Homer because it teaches you a lot of things. Normally, when you read it the first time through, you would understand what had happend and some other things that happend. If you decide to read it again, which I highly recomend, you will learn even more things than before. You will have even greater wisdom than before. You also might be able to solve problems like Odysseus too. When reading The Odyssey, you will notice how descriptive it is. Homer describes the scenes in the book so well, you can imagine a scene so well in your head, he does it like no other book can do. The plot to The Odyssey is like every other book that follows “The Hero Cycle”. The Odyssey’s plot is really good because it’s about a man named King Odysseus who is trying to return home after fighting in the Trojan War. He wants to return to back to his homeland of Ithaca. At his palace, there waiting for him is Queen Penelope, his wife and Telemachus, his son. To get home he has to pass many obstacles including cyclops, Poseidon's rage, sirens and other dangerous creatures. Since he has not returned from the war, suitors have been trying to court Penelope because they would be able to become king. Odysseus does not know what is happening back at Ithaca but he is motivated to return home. By reading The Odyssey, I learned how important family is to me and never give up. Odysseus never gave up on his journey home and he eventually made it back. His family is so important to him and he is important to them. My family is important to me and I am important to them.
You will never regret reading The Odyssey, you will not lose anything by reading it, but only gain by reading it. You will gain wisdom, and most of all you will no longer be “clinging to your boyhood...”.
